No composer.json error

I'm trying to install the plugin with composer and I get this error message when running composer install or composer update

[Composer\Repository\InvalidRepositoryException]
No valid composer.json was found in any branch or tag of https://github.com/10up/10up-experience.git, could not load a package from it.
