How about this?

As the True Desolation began #[Odium](characters/odium) focused on #[Dalinar Kholin](characters/dalinar), whom he planned to set up as his champion. While viewing a vision of the Recreance with #[Navani](characters/navani) and #[Jasnah](characters/jasnah), a being entered the vision whom Dalinar interperetted to be a god before Odium revealed his identity. Though Dalinar refused to release Odium from his imprisonment, Odium asserted that Dalinar would eventually do so. He overwhelmed Dalinar by revealing a taste of his true form, and rejected Dalinar's proposal of a contest of champions before departing.
