Documentation request: comparison with bitlbee + libpurple + 3rd-party plugins

It is (was?) also possible to connect to Slack and Mattermost through
Bitlbee, thanks to libpurple and third-party plugins.

Could this solution be mentionned in the documentation, please?

And above all, could it be explained if matterircd is supposed to
simply replace it, or whether each solution has its pros and cons?

I'm not sure I follow what's requested here, I'm not the maintainer of matterircd (hello Wim), but I don't feel like the need to document what might be an alternative/competing product?

Also why would matterircd replace it? Then you'll need to find someone with thorough experience with both matterircd and libpurple/Bitlbee to come up with the comparison outlining each of the pros and cons. I guess you're welcome to do that.
