Need to press undo twice after pasting

When I paste something and then want to undo it, I have to press undo twice in order to undo it. This happens whether I press u or Ctrl-z

Hey!
How do you paste the contents? p? Is there anything special about your setup (e.g. not using the system clipboard)?
For me, if I select a line (x), copy it (y) and then paste it (p), a single press to u undos the paste.
