PS/2 mouse and keyboard not working in WfW 3.11

What happened?

When starting Windows for Workgroups 3.11 in 86Box builds starting with 5756 the PS/2 mouse and keyboard become nonresponsive.

Additional context

Using a serial mouse makes the mouse work but the keyboard remains unresponsive.
