Hiding the user's list

The current user's list seems to take up a lot of screen space. It would be better to be able to toggle it too.
And moving the user's list to the right end of the screen. The chat and the user's list must be exclusive to each other i.e. If the user's list is displayed, the chat window should be hidden. If chat is opened the user's list must be hidden.
Both of them share the right side panel of the screen.
Any help would be great!
