I could not find any information about the companion addon. What does it do, how does it work, what happens if i disable it, is it required or optional? Thank you

It is installed only if user use WA or Plater. And it is used to deliver aura and plater configuration updates. As they need to be installed in-game.
It use the same metod as official Weakaura Companion.
