Industry outreach

pwnorbitals opened this issue · 2 comments

Proposal:

Organize and maintain a strong communication between the working group and the various industry actors

Objectives:

Keep a continuous feedback loop to answer the industry needs, push for a greater Rust adoption within the industry, and provide an efficient meeting point between the professionals and the community.

Motivation:

The aerospace industry still is a very closed ecosystem where

  • only a limited number of actors collaborate
  • code is proprietary
  • changes are slow
  • very little support and credit is given to the non-professional communities around the world.

If we want to change this, we need to provide a clear communication channel with the industry for all parties to express their needs and work together.

Ideas are welcome as to how to do this best. This is probably one of the main long-term objective of the working group.

A good RFC esque process and a WG journal (montly issue?) and some faster way like a site with an issue tracker or use github maybe, but definitely a site with accompanying wiki should help as a wiki might make us a focal point for aerospace stuff(?)

The website is tracked in AeroRust/AeroRust.github.io#7.
a WG journal would need a volunteer to make sure it is taken care of, and we could create a new issue for that if the idea is accepted
We could also improve industry outreach by participating in pro events
