DBJ needs to inform the user which yarn color is which.

AYAB software version: 0.99.0-rc4
Computer/OS: Intel Mac, Big Sur 11.7.10
Knitting machine: KH910
AYAB hardware: Shield, interface, simulation

The software now decides for itself the order in which the colors are used, see #308. So the user doesn't know which is which before starting to knit. And there are some circumstances where the first pass that's showing in the lower display is a ribber-only row, so you can't use that to confirm which color you should be using.

It needs some sort of chart listing the colors in A,B,C order and a box for the color picked from the image. I'm not sure where in the UI this should go, maybe below the Knit button in the lower right? Or a popup that you can dismiss after you've threaded the color changer. And bring back if you need it again later.

Workaround: Run Simulation first, and use it to thread the color changer.

For immediate beta- we will add documentation to demonstrate how you can obtain this information from the simuation.
For 1.0.0 release- we should add a chart in the canvas for the colors

Instead of a legend, can't we show the actual colours in the knitting progress area as the background colour to A, B, C.

That would be a nice feature too, to have the background to "Color B" over on the left of the lower display be the actual color of color B. But it still doesn't quite solve this question. Before you start, you need to thread the color changer with the colors in the most convenient order. Only the first two colors are already showing, waiting for the first pass. I want it to tell me all the colors and the order they will appear.

Could the legend be displayed in the lower area where the knitting progress table will be? I'm thinking that once knitting has started, you don't need to see it any more.

Yes, that might be OK.
