Grey out, or otherwise differentiate, the top row of the lower display

Closed this issue · 0 comments

The lower display shows the needle selection. But the top row is the row it is about to select. If you want to compare the display to the actual needles you're looking at, you need to compare to the second row. This is confusing and non-intuitive.

AYAB software version: 0.99.0-rc6
Computer/OS: Intel Mac, Big Sur
Knitting machine: KH910
AYAB hardware: Interface

Steps:

  1. Any image, even just in regular 2-color. (Same applies in DBJ, it's even more important there, but it's the same everywhere.)
  2. Watch what happens in the lower display.
  3. Before you begin, (after crossing the left turn mark) it shows what the first row's selection will look like. At this point that's somewhat clear, if you stop and think about it, that it's telling you what it's about to do.
  4. But as you work up the rows, if you want. to check that your needle selection matches what the software is telling you, it is not obvious that you need to compare to the second row down in the diagram.

Typically you'll want to do this comparison when stopped at one end, and AYAB has already updated the display to show you what it is about to do. Which IMO is functionally correct, but needs a UI change to make it clear that the top row doesn't exist yet. grey out the top row, or highlight the second row, something to delineate what is showing the current actual needles.
