Explore query mode keeps resetting to Time Series when editing query

In Explore mode the query mode keeps resetting from "Table" to "Time Series" if I edit a query.

1. Open Explore and create a query intended to be rendered as a table
2. Change the Format As mode from Time Series to Table
3. Edit the query
4. Query mode automatically resets to Time Series (the Format As still says Table though)
5. Changing the query mode to something else and back to Table renders the result in table mode again

Plugin version is 3.1.1 and Grafana version 10.4.2
