Cannot insert fluids from gauge dropper into terminals

The gauge dropper is somewhat unusual as a container item because it can hold both fluids and chemicals. It works perfectly for chemicals.

For gauge droppers holding fluids, I cannot insert the fluid into a terminal, or into other GUI slots that take a real quantity of a fluid, such as an interface. Config slots work fine, as do storage monitors.
