Preferred Citation?

I work for a research center at Indiana University. I have some researchers who use some of this data. We've been helping them download the data that they need from you guys and we're at the point where they're asking about how to cite the data in their papers.

How would you like us to cite this project? It'd be great if there were something in your README.

Additionally, if you're interested in our research center or projects, feel free to reach out. (Don't want to be a jerk and advertise in an issue :)

I'm not an expert on citation, but here are things you can maybe add, depending on what fits the context:

  • link to repository
  • link to the site/torrent/files you've downloaded
  • project name: Arctic Shift
  • my name: Arthur Heitmann
    • I don't own the data, only archiving publicly available data
  • Depending on the timeframe or files you've downloaded, also: Pushshift, u/Watchful1
  • Reddit itself

I'm always interested to hear what people do with the data, so feel free to share it here :)

Thanks! While we don't currently have much reddit based research that's been published, we've got a few ongoing projects and have been thinking about new opportunities ever since we found out about ya'll's work. If you're interested, our research center is the Observatory on Social Media.

Thanks for the link! I'll keep this issue open, as guidance for others
