EM dash in Nimbus vs Helvetica

There’s just not enough space around the EM dash and its neighbors. Could it be shortened?

We (Artifex) have referred this URW++ themselves, and we await their response.

Em and En dashes in Tahoma.ttf are just as long. They probably have traditional typographic widths in mind, with En = ½ Em.
