Lagging on widescreen

The button animations (arrow keys and mouse) are lagging on my big external screen(34 inches, 3840x1600). I am using the xdg protocol.
EDIT: same with gtk-layer-shell

This isn't something really fixable from wlogout's side, all drawing is left for GTK; the only thing I can really recommend is to disable the buttons changing color in style.css by removing the background-color: #3700B3; line; also avoid making buttons round as GTK seems to struggle with those.
