INQ: Import IFC Mapping

avinash-218 opened this issue · 0 comments

Inquiry description

Are there any source codes or resources which serves as the document of reference detailing how imported IFC objects are mapped to Revit family elements. I'm not looking in terms of abstraction like in the Revit software but instead I am looking for the logical mapping of entities.

Example use case,
Consider an IFC file which is generated completely using ifcopenshell (and not from any other BIM softwares). Assume there is a wall in the file. When I try to open (not link) the file in revit, it is not recognized as Revit family wall instead it is considered as BasicWall. But when I added material layer to the wall, now revit could identify that as Revit family wall.

Ref: #777

I am looking such kind of nook and corner logics for every IFC entity to Revit Mapping considering I am creating the IFC file all by myself using Ifcopenshell without any other BIM softwares so that I can have control of what property to encode with all of the ifc entities.

Thanks !!!
