Submission Guidelines

Closed this issue · 2 comments

The Ultimate Goal for this project is for it to be mostly self-running.

That means, we want people to submit news/content/etc.

However, that opens the doors to the question: What Content is Okay to Add?

I think I want to write some kind of guidelines so everyone is on the same page for what can/should be submitted as news and/or for the directory/showcase.

In the comments of this Issue, let's discuss that a bit further and, once I'm happy with the direction, I'll write up the guidelines.

First, let's define who I consider a "Member of our Community" to be:

  • Anyone who lives or works in or "around" St Louis - I might even go as far as to say Anyone in Missouri and/or Illinois, really, since KC and Chicago people are welcome!
  • Anyone working on a project remotely (outside the first area) where any members of the team are based in the first area.
  • Anyone who was formerly in the first 2 groups and has some projects that were made during that time who have since moved away
  • Anyone with near-future plans to be in the first 2 groups

Next, here's what Projects I think should count:

  • Video Games
  • Tabletop Games
  • Any side project that is not one of the above, but is made by a Member of our Community who predominantly makes/releases/works on projects of those other types

Finally, here are some of the specific things that I think can and should be shared:

  • A new Project announced/updated/released by a Member of the Community
  • Some kind of announcement about one of those Projects - like an award nomination/earned, etc
  • A Member of our Community Streaming game dev
  • Events that are taking place in our area relevant to the Community
  • Any articles, blog posts, videos, streams, let's plays featuring a Project
  • Some kind of useful or interesting information that could be useful to any Members of our Community: a hiring notice, an interesting or useful video/article/etc about something game dev related, a game jam announcement, etc
  • A video of someone playing a Project
  • A Member of our Community Streaming random games not made in our area.

Note: this list is roughly in order of how 'important' I think that kind of news is but this is not really a big deal.

I think we need to add:
Any Member of our Community making mods, tools, websites/videos/etc about other games should still be allowed.
Also, Members of our Communtiy making prototypes, assets, music, experiments, etc that might not be 'full games' should still be allowed.
