Released the fix of the issue on Azure/azure-functions-java-worker#355
at the release of https://github.com/Azure/azure-functions-java-library/releases/tag/1.4.0-SNAPSHOT

Once, the 1.4.0 has been released, we need to update the official documentation.

this still needs to happen right? Currently the documentation implies that the output binding doesn't work. But it seems that if you use a version after 1.4.0, it should work?
