Gecko "Random" attack

Closed this issue · 2 comments

What happened

Generic Ghoul on the street of Gecko Junkyard is attacking immediately after talking with Percy. Seems like it's not dependent on whether I'm taking Percy's quest or just trading with him via dialog.

What you expected to happen

Ghoul would remain peaceful.

You have a different scripts.lst than UPU's in your data\scripts\, even official 1.02d one has a record of 8 LVARs for gcwander.int. Remove it and load a save before you ever visit Gecko should solve the random attack (the game will use the one included in upu.dat).
I have no idea where or how your file came from, but it's clearly a user error, not UPU's problem.

For the sake of the next generations, I leave this extended description here:
The treacherous F2WEDIT tool silently unpacks your scripts.lst file to the "data/scripts" folder upon opening any of your saves, but it takes the file not from upu.dat patch file, but from master.dat, which contains old, non-fixed version. That's how this old-timer bug is brought back to life. If you encounter same issue - here are your recommendations from fellow @NovaRain:
"If you want to use f2wedit on UPU, set the "patch file .dat" to upu.dat.
or use the newer ProtoManager
or just extract the copy from upu.dat first, so it won't try to extract."
