I ry to write my own game boy emulator in python
This project is too advanced to look into the source for me.
Do you know or have a very simple early version I can look at?

You can try to go back in the commit history. But generally, it doesn't get much simpler than it is now. Earlier versions might have bugs, that are fixed later too.
