I feel this project could benefit from guidelines on how to contribute in a contributing.md, as well as a section in the readme.md about how to contributing. I'd be willing to contribute contributions to the contributing.md.

It doesn't look like there is anybody wanting to contribute to this project as of right now. If more people want to contribute, I will add a contributing.md.
