Using the latest format version when creating custom blocks provides access to fresh features and improvements. The wiki aims to share up-to-date information about custom blocks, and currently targets format version 1.20.50.

Item components are used to change how your block appears and functions in the world. They are applied in the components child of minecraft:item.
