The current error message from cray:

      select type(array)
                  ^
ftn-1871 ftn: ERROR CONSTRUCT, File = build/dependencies/assert/src/intrinsic_array_s.F90, Line = 12, Column = 19
  The selector in a SELECT TYPE statement must be polymorphic.

FYI, this bug was reported to HPE March 2023.
