๐Ÿ› [BUG] - Bootloader does not work on USB 3.0

RC128tech opened this issue ยท 3 comments

Description

I used two SanDisk USB flash drives for my test install:

  • 16 GB USB 2.0
  • 64 GB USB 3.0

The USB 2.0 drive worked without problems. I also can install on the USB 3.0 drive, but it doesn't seem to boot from it. I made a reinstallation, still didn't boot. The BIOS is set to Legacy boot.

Add an additional entry in the installer menu 'Reinstall Bootloader'. It happens quickly that you skip the entry 'Install Bootloader'.

Best Regards

BlissOS .ISO file goes on a USB, to be used as an installer.

You boot from the USB to use the installer to install BlissOS onto your machine(PC, laptop, tablet)

It is intended to be installed onto a HDD/SSD

Makes no difference, burning the .ISO to a USB 2.0/3.0 flash drive.(except a slight boost in transfer speeds). Installing on a USB 2.0 will not be fast enough to have a truly blissful experience

But installing & running the OS itself on a USB is not recommended. The reads/writes to the /system will likely kill your USB after some time

The reason why I didn't install it on the SSD was for tests. I mainly wanted to check if the touchscreen of the Dell XPS 15 9560 is working in BlissOS, and it does.

Why the 'display over other apps' doesn't work in the version with the gapps was unexpected, especcially because it worked in the version without gapps.

We provide the ability to do a live boot so that you can test.

All you have to do is select live mode from the USB installer once booted
