Can you elaborate a little wat is meant here?
The inventory setting use_config_backorders is unsupported.

You cannot have products that have these settings? the extension halts? they cannot be sold?

It means these are not yet implemented in a way that changes anything.
For example, CatalogInventory Stock Item has noted TODO regarding these.
I believe they are / were intended to function similar to the default Magento options of the same name, but able to be specified separately for each inventory location.
