Ubuntu (linux) needs OpenAL packages: libalut0, libopenal1 (terminal: sudo apt-get install libalut0 libopenal1) Windows requires installing OpenAL ( http://braxi.boo.pl/download/oalinst.exe )
You don't need either of these.
