Not working with Google + Firefox

I'm using the add-on and like it a lot. Thank you! But since a few days it's stoped working with Google image search. It simply directs you to https://www.google.com/imghp?sbi=1
I'm using Firefox 106.0.3

I can't reproduce it :/ Is your Google search URL set to https://www.google.com/searchbyimage?image_url=%s ?

Strange. I now got it to work, but only on one image. I've disabled all other add-ons also.
Yes my URL is: https://www.google.com/searchbyimage?image_url=%s

Can you share the URL of an image that does not work?

Hm it works for me:

image

Yes that one works for me to. But not the other one (or any others).

Sorry I overlooked your other comment. This one also works for me:
image

I don't know where the problem is :/ Do you have any other addons that may conflict with it? Have you tried a private window or a new profile?

Very strange. Now the sunset is working, but not other images.
I've disabled other addons and wonder if there is something else I can do?

It's not working in a private window (but the sunset is working there too).

Hm, odd. Can you try it in a new profile? Do you know how to create one? Just start Firefox through the run dialog with "firefox -p", create a new profile and install the addon there + test it again. If this still doesn't work then I don't know sorry :/ Maybe some A/B testing fuckery going on at Google? Who knows.

Tried a new profile, same problem. Thank you for taking time for helping out!

Hi there, thank you for this great extension but I am having the same issue as the OP. Any image I reverse search returns the URL https://www.google.com/imghp?sbi=1 This is on Firefox 106.0.5
Not working in container tab or private window with all plugins disabled
Any idea how to fix? Thank you

Thanks for bringing this up again. I'm now getting the same error so it was a gradual change on Google's side. Will see what I can do!

It seems like Google removed the "old" image reverse search and is now forcing Google Lens.

The new URL is https://lens.google.com/uploadbyurl?url=%s - you can change it in the settings. I will prepare a new version later today. Maybe there is still a way to directly use the older reverse search?

Thank you so much for looking into it - I really appreciate it!

Thank you! That fixed it! It is a shame Google is forcing you to use lens, yes would be great if there was a way to use the older reverse search. I noticed when you click on "find image source" the URL is "https://www.google.com/search?tbs=sbi" and it sort of works like the older search. Not sure if that might be the way to find a middle ground so to speak. Thanks again for the quick response and fix :)

Thank you for putting effort into this again! But the change in URL to https://lens.google.com/uploadbyurl?url=%s did not work for me. Same result as before.

@mymurkas: Had the same problem. But now it works. It was an issue of saving the changes in the addon. Be sure you click on the green tag to save, before you click the save options button. If after reloding the page your changes are gone again, then try to add a new search engine with the google lens url and save that. If still all changes disappear after reloading then edit the google entry again AND just activate or deactivate some of the selected search engines before you save options. After I did all at the same time, it accepted the changes. In my case I simply did the changes and then activated tinyeye before I saved. In my opera saving the changes worked all perfect. But in firefox I had this fight. Maybe that's something someone might look after too.

Yes thank you @DesktopCleanupWizard ! That worked in firefox. Still prefer the old search but at least it's a work-around.

The new version is now available for Firefox (v3.1.4) and is pending verification for Chrome (v4.1.2). The old URL will automatically be changed to Google Lens. This is worse but at least it's working again.

i found this tip from @nethew - see Sukigu/search-by-image-on-google#11 - it is still working like it used to if you add a client parameter, e.g. https://www.google.com/searchbyimage?client=firefox&image_url=%s

You are right, this is still working! I won't change it back now though and I don't know how long this will keep working

I think the standard search has better ease of use than the lens search, as the first provides not only related images but links and sources in the same page.
