Feature request: Improve the look of the gallery view

Description of feature or change
Atm the gallery view looks like a pop-up loaded in the main instance of the app. This looks pretty bad to me and I don't expect to see what's in the borders.

I don't recall any app having something similar, I'd rather have a gallery view looking like Skype one.
