Hello,
Is it necessary to install matlab for to use cars? I tried to compile vlfeat in ubuntu and I got this error:

Hello,
The problem doesn't seem to come from matlab.
It looks like you don't have a compiler on your machine (cc: command not found).
Can you install the build-essential package?
sudo apt install build-essential
