Hey, I was playing with xpra recently and I have found that 1.0 came out with great new features like desktop mode ! -> https://www.xpra.org/trac/browser/xpra/tags/v1.0.x/src/NEWS
I've played a bit with videoprojector and RPi when I though about this project you were workin on last year.
So are you still thinking about it?
There's nice guys that did some cool things like this https://github.com/vektorcloud/xfce4 or this https://github.com/rogaha/docker-desktop still a bit buggy but there's some things to do, on the two sides (desktop and 'machines')
BTW I'm really interested in it, for contributing also indeed.

First of all, sorry for my late answer ! For some reasons I did not received the notification as expected ^^
What a great news to hear you about that new xpra version !
And even more to hear that you could be interrested in working on something similar.
I have not worked on that project for a while, but I always had in mind to make something out of it..
What is your action plan about it ? Did you start working on something yet ?
I would be greatly interested in contributing on a similar project, or start a new one from scratch with all the experience I have gathered since.
Can't wait to hear you again about that :D

Hey sorry, I have been busy these last weeks!
I didn't start working on something,I just played with the shadow feature and it's pretty neat (you should check that ;D)
I don't know very much the state of this project, but would like to hear about, your thoughs etc.
In fact I'm much more interested by the crossplatform thing, and the virtualization part. But there's work to do before that. The question is more : what's your plan ? ;)

I've been busy too, I started a new job 2 weeks ago and got a lot a things to do ^^
The plan is: How to make xpra to work cross platform...
Actually I doubt we can run Xpra on other platform than linux.
I've come to work with other protocols like NX that is fully cross platform but is not well documented
I would like to discuss this further with you before I leave Paris (definitivly) next week !

It can also be used to forward full desktops, from X11 servers, MS Windows, or Mac OS X.
And it's python so.... :D pretty straightforward, we have to test that ! I didn't knew about NX, seems nice too !

Yeah I saw winswitch, pretty interesting project !
I'm not surprised that xpra can forward full desktop from all of them, but that's not the feature i'm interested by.
The main goal of DexTop was to bring every application window together, by taking them one by one from the OS. I'm afraid that's a feature it will be hard to develop on crosoft and apple systems...
Seems that NX came with some solution for that, and the source code can be found somewhere on the web from the era it was free/open-source (if I recall correctly)
Its a way to initiate the research :)

Ahh I get it now. I saw that NX came commercial around 2012 so it shouldn't be difficult to find, also there's forks.
