Request: Support for Metric system and time between waypoint

Opened this issue · 2 comments

Hi there, I hope its ok to make feature requests here. Great software and a fantastic help navigating both in VR and pancake.

One thing that stood out to me is that the distance and climb info of waypoints is only in miles right now, which most people outside the US likely aren't familiar with. So an option to change that to metric would be nice.

Better yet for the distance would be to use the ETE instead. Either the one ingame or better yet calculate one via a speed in knots that the user can define.

Last but not least as a small QOL improvement, maybe have multiple times toggling a waypoint's info on and off result in the panel being shown on the opposite side of the waypoint. This way the user has less problems with occluding the map.

👍 Great suggestions! I'll think about it. The thing is that, at least from my experience in real life aviation, most pilots, even here in Europe (except for glider pilots), heavily rely on imperial units in terms of measuring altitude in feet, airspeed in knots and distance in nautical miles, respectively. Don't you agree?

Adding an ETE, on the other hand, sounds like a really cool idea...

Sorry for the kind of late reply, I am really bad at that somehow...

I honestly wouldn't know about the metric thing, I have zero piloting experience and just started the sim with last performance update, so I take your word for it ^^

But I agree, ETE would be way more useful than the absolute distance displayed. Ideally ETE might just be a number that the user can input instead of something autogenerated.
