It's not clear what the extension actually *does*

Sorry if this seems dumb, I'm not putting the extension down in any way because obviously it has some value that is recognized by others who are recommending it. But frankly, when I come here from an online course that says "hey you should use this extension, it adds file autocomplete to VS Code," then I don't understand - from the readme at least - what it actually adds. Perhaps when the extension was first created there was no file autocomplete at all in VS Code? In which case just to have it at all would be a clear advantage. But when I type in a require
statement, native VS Code already starts popping up Intellisense suggestions for other files in my project. Obviously this extension adds something extra to that functionality, but it would be nice to have an explanation of what it is before hitting the install button.
