🐞 Status Bar does not update when workspace is first opened

Description

The Line/Col information doesn't appear in the status bar until the first tab switch.
To Reproduce
- Close all workspaces
- Go to CodeEdit welcome screen
- Open a project
- Try clicking around/selecting text---nothing happens
- Switch to another tab---should now work as expected
Expected Behavior
Tab switch should not be required
