pgupdate stuck updating from 8.4.8

Been trying to do a pgupdate since last night, just sits at the below and never moves forward. Tried manually putting the pgstate.yml file in place and causes a bunch of other perl errors. Any advice? What logs should I be digging through?
:~$ sudo pgupdate

also tried to reinstall and got this
