"Gravity" - Conflict Management Wg

๐Ÿ“‹ Anything to add?

We want to propose a way for easy channelling disputes and be able to provide internal management looking for keeping high vibes in the organization. This idea is trying to apply Ostrom's principles number 5, 6 and 7 (Rules are enforced by effective & accountable monitoring, Sanctions for violations should be graduated, & Conflict resolution should be easily accessible and low-cost), to promote the antifragility of our organization and having clear ways to address and scale conflicts (understanding that are natural in human organizations) inside the TEC.

โฐ Urgency/Due Date/Syncs?

There has been some advances around the "Gravity" proposal for the TEC, but we have still a lot to do.
Urgency: by the 24th of November we want to have an MVP on the 4 points of the roadmap. That are:

  1. Design the responsibilities/benefits/requirements of the role of conflict managers.
    (see "in review" column) https://github.com/TECommons/coordination/projects/10

  2. Relate unwanted behavior to graduated sanctions (see miro board -as its a big space, you should look below and to the right to where it says "scale of conflicts and suggested sanctions) https://miro.com/app/board/o9J_kkC0kIM=/?moveToWidget=3074457351201827465&cot=14

  3. Design the onboarding/training and rotation/offboarding of this group of people related to conflict management
**We still haven't done enough research to see how can we train people on this skills -@Zeptimus is helping in this.
    suggestions:
    A) Search for conflict management courses in coursera https://learn.canvas.net/courses/2784
    b) Having a book club -idea taken from softgov & governing the commons https://legalstudiesms.com/learning/conflict-resolution-resources/

  4. Create a system to channel disputes and connect them to experts accountable for approaching parts involved and help manage the issue - solve it with graduated sanctions, or scaling the situation to more complex conflict management mechanisms. We want to be able to make this a proposal before the hatch ๐Ÿฃ

โ“ Why is it important?

This is important because most conflict starts with small issues that if handled at the right time could prevent a bigger issue in the future. Being able to include conflict as a natural thing in all types of human organizations will help us to have a dialectic approach for improving and learning from communication, and having graduate sanctions will help us to have agreed "penalties" to handle common disputes, with strategic scaling protocols for bigger issues.
