It seems like the internals of marimba~ are basically the same as vibraphone~ with only a few Modal4_setRatioAndReson parameter tweaks. There's also a difference where marimba~ uses a multiStrike variable (which I don't entirely understand yet). It seems to do something with randomized repetitions of the wave file.

I also notice that marimba~ does actually make sound if I manually move the slider on the amplitude input, which indicates something possibly useful in further investigation:

Well, upon further investigation, nothing is wrong with the object itself. The help patch does not have the noteon message connected!
