To clarify what we are looking for here: A success story from industry e.g. how software development support is implemented in large R&D departments. We do not have the insights and experiences here, but the scenario should be not too different from RSE in research institutions.
Alternatively this success story can also be more abstract - like how cross-cutting topics are addressed in organizational theory.
I have not attended the RSE@Intel talk. Initially I wanted to motivate Bernhard Rumpe to report a success story from his industry background. If we do not have such a story we should just mention that similar organizational structures are present in several industries. Paid for software consulting is a business model that comes to mind.
