There is no log diectory in repo.
Please create log directory, then add an empty file .gitkeep in it.
Git ignores empty directories.
There's a logs directory in TorQ, the Finance starter pack is installed on top of TorQ.
This might be an issue with the way you deployed it, can you run tree in your deployment directory and paste the output?

You should create a deploy directory, copy Torq into it, then copy the finance starter pack on top.
My MacOS : El Cap 10.11.6
So, I can run q -- the ondemand version of q 64bit,
I can also q32 -- which is the 32bit version of q.
q 64bit was not installed via jupyter channel, It was installed manually.

It looks like the issue is that in our recently updated TorQ start script, we use envsubst which isn't available by default on Mac OS (I think we tested on Linux)
You should hopefully be able to start TorQ using start_torq_demo_osx.sh.
The alternative option would be to install the gettext package from Homebrew which provides the envsubst command. If you don't already have homebrew set up on your mac though, it is likely easier to use the osx start script; you'll just miss out on some of the nice new features we added with torq.sh. For just starting all processes, there should be no difference though
EDIT: Just noticed you did try the osx start script; can you give more detail of the issue encountered here? Where there errors in log files?
I installed gettext -- same.. Where are log file kept?
your log files are in the logs directory under the deploy directory, can you run ls in your deploy directory and paste the output please?

can I see the contents of the rdb logs for now, so err_rdb1.log usage_rdb1.log and out_rdb1.log
can you paste them in a pastebin and link it here
also assuming you haven't changed the defaults in setenv.sh can you try to connect to your rdb using this http://localhost:6002 in your browser
can you try rdb as the username and pass as the password and let me know if you're getting data
you can find the usernames and passwords in appconfig/passwords/accesslist.txt
ok seems like the rdb is working fine, can you give us more info on what you're trying to do?
Trying to run this> ./torq.sh start rdb1 hdb1 tickerplant1
The torq.sh script is not supported on Mac OS unfortunately, only Linux. However, all of those processes should already be running via the start_torq_demo_osx.sh script; this is verified by the fact you were already able to connect to rdb1 in your browser.
Can you explain more your use case for TorQ? Do you need to get this data into another application, for example?
