Trying to open some unexpectedly organized file from the Signal Panel would lead to:

From a certain point of view, that is the expected behavior because - as implied in the dialog box above - the data sets must have 2, 3 or 4 columns:

• 2 columns are interpreted as: x, y
• 3 columns are interpreted as: x, y, dy
• 4 columns are interpreted as: x, y, dx, dy

However, it would be interesting to be able to open arbitrary text files.

Hence this feature request for implementing something like the data import wizard in Spyder:

So that would be a feature request... but a very interesting one indeed!
