Exact wording of the rule

Rule 3.3 on Claimblocking

  1. If the rules are vague or non-existent, the purpose of the claimblocking rules is to give towns room for growth.

  2. Because of 1) above, towns (or groups of towns) may not combine to claimblock a town.
If a town (or several towns) combine to claimblock another town, they will be considered as one big claimblock.
The mayor of the newest claimblocking chunks should be notified, then the offending chunks should be removed and refunded.

  3. The usual claimblocking rule prevents a town from being surrounded on 3 sides,
EXCEPT if one or more sides of the town is a large body of water, then those sides will be included when counting how many sides have been claimblocked.
Example: if a town is claimblocked on the west and north, and on the south side is a large body of water, then nobody is allowed to claimblock the east side.

  4. EXCEPTION If the claimblocking occurred a long time ago (e.g. before May 2020), and no ticket exists, then the current town configuration is allowed.
Tickets can still be made on new claims.

Rule 3.3 on Hollow Claims

  1. Existing Hollow Claims: Towns that have marked out a claim area,
but do not have sufficient gold

    • they must let the mods know of their intent to claim the entire area
    • the number of claims must be less than or equal to the number of chunks a town can hold
    • they must make new claim in the territory (at least once a week), or the marked area will have to be rearranged
    • new towns may not settle inside the hollow claims of these marked territory
  2. New Hollow Claims: New towns created since this rule change (dated _____) may not have hollow claims. They will be contacted and have their chunks rearranged.

How will this rule affect the community
Normal towns should be allowed to grow.
Claims created solely to block other towns are discouraged.

Do you think this will benefit both the staff and the players
Clear rules will help staff stay consistent and deal with claim tickets.
