remake tree-ring figure(?)

@ValentineHerr , I'm wondering if you'd have time to make a new version of part of one of our figures in the GCB tree-ring paper for @NidhiVinod's paper (revised version due Tuesday)? The journal artists can adjust, but there's so much that I'd like adjusted that I think it would be easier if we at least start the process. If you could do this quickly, that would be very helpful, but no worries if it would be tricky/ if you don't have time.

We're using the temperature part of the DBH x climate figure:

Here's what I'd like to do:

  • for all plots, match the basic scheme of Christy's figure (column B): recolor max DBH gold and min DBH blue (they don't have to match exactly-- journal will recolor anyways), change min DBH to solid line
  • remove vertical lines an shading indicating climate norms

I'll try to do that now

Does this look goos?
Do you want the legend for DBH on top?

Looks fantastic-- thanks! Yes, the legend would be helpful, if easy.

Also, if it's easy, would be good to adjust the y-axis on the last panel.

I'll try, I just pushed this version in the tree ring repo:

do you mean the y limit or aligning it with the other panels?

I actually meant the y limit (sorry for the confusion!) It's okay if that's an annoying thing to have to do though-- the figure already looks wonderful!

I'll go ahead and close this issue. The y-axis isn't a big deal-- journal can adjust it if they want. The new figure looks so much better!

Here is with "free" y-axis for all 3 panels. I can try to change only the 3rd one if you think it is worth the effort.

Many thanks, @ValentineHerr ! let's leave it at this. The illustrators will be altering this figure anyway.
