Not sure why. When i click it when i'm using that mode, the button doesnt do anything.
Also, just want to say thanks for creating this extension. It saves a lot of time.
Hey, thanks for your feedback! Sorry to hear you have issues with incognito mode.
Are you able to share which browser you are using? Many of them require extensions in Incognito mode to be explicitly granted permission to run, but if that still doesn't work I'd love to take a look myself
@Erisa , I am using Thorium, which is a fork of chromium. What browser do you use?
Here is proof that i have it enabled in incognito mode:
And here is proof that i have it enabled & with all permissions granted:
I use multiple browsers but Thorium is not one I've seen before.
I will take a look after work today, thanks for the info.
@Erisa , see if you can install it, its one of the best browsers that exists, its as open sourced as possible, but still with the benefits of Chrome/google Inc. https://github.com/Alex313031/thorium
Thorium is a maintained & improved version of chromium.
There is also a windows OS install version.
Hi, sorry for the delay.
I tried both in Chrome and in Thorium, and the extension works as expected in Incognito windows for me, so I am not able to reproduce the problem.
Are you able to share which image you are trying to download and from which webpage?
Additionally, can you also try:
- Enable developer mode for extensions in the top right of chrome://extensions.
- On the extension details, enable the new "Collect errors" option that appears.
- After reproducing the problem with the option enabled, go back to chrome://extension and see if there is a red "Errors" button next to the extension. If there is, copy the text out of the error fields and share them here.
@Erisa , "Are you able to share which image you are trying to download and from which webpage?"
It doesnt matter with all respect, because i cant download any images via the incognito mode,
I just tried again. And i also created a new browser profile that has no extensions in it, in case an extension was interfering with your extension. But that didnt help either.
One thing i see that you didnt replicate it appears, is that you are using Windows 11? when i am using zorin OS, which is very similar to ubuntu. Can you run a VM or hypervisor for Zorin OS & try it please?
It may also be a bug with Thorium browser, which if so, if you can pinpoint it, I'd be happy to report it to Alex who oversees Thorium :)
@Erisa , i also checked for errors & got no errors whatsoever. :)
Still no issues with Zorin OS 16.3 and the latest version of Thorium for Linux (117.0.5938.157) using the .deb package.
At this point I would suspect the issue is either with the configuration of your environment or an obscure bug with the browser that requires certain criteria to show up. And there is not anything further I can debug.
If you wanted you could select "Inspect views -> background page
" and try to debug the execution of the Javascript yourself. Error messages should also be printed there and the script can be debugged from there, Since I cannot reproduce the issue, I cannot help by debugging there myself.
@Erisa , UPDATE. I just noticed that your extension on incognito mode did download some, only some, of the photos i tried, so thats helpful & an improvement. But what it doesnt work for, and has never worked for is facebook. For example, try viewing this generic profile in incognito mode, i dont think it requires you to even login. Try to download some images from it:
https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100050570405892
Also try this facebook photo URL: https://scontent-sjc3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.30808-6/394557561_10225580555000753_8107455264365694794_n.jpg?_nc_cat=111&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=5f2048&_nc_aid=0&_nc_ohc=JyVyDwEHU0YAX_BahmC&_nc_ht=scontent-sjc3-1.xx&oh=00_AfB2zOliIcAU2lMfeqMkkpd1DXzSM8QOBWatlhGwoRY1Bw&oe=6539C3F6
@Erisa , thank you. I havent updated my thorium in a long time(Thorium doesnt automatically update) so that was actually the solution. Your extension works great now :) I've only ever tried your extension with one version of thorium, so i just didnt think it likely that it was thorium that was the cause, especially if it was working in non-incognito mode.
Anyways, sorry for the trouble. Thanks for helping! :)
No problem, glad you fixed it.
Have to re-open this issue, its happening again. Try these links yourself please, using Zorin/Thorium & only incognito mode. Download the kurt cobain photo, below are two different links where it doesnt work, its weird this is what it says also, see screenshot:
