FYI - Attempts to crosslink BioEco EOV and EBV dataflows via ODIS

Working with the GOOS BioEco Panel, OBIS, and marine life programmes in the UN Ocean Decade, we're developing (meta)data exchange conventions for the EOVs within a larger interoperability framework (ODIS, video brief, documentation).
The issue on our tracker above will track any progress we make in trying to accommodate / integrate the specifications developed here into the systems.
There's good potential to link this to emerging GEO BON data systems.

To illustrate further that the marine community has been focussing on Essential Ocean Variables (EOVs) compared to EBVs:
- EMODnet Biology has created 'data products' that are grouped under EOV descriptions: see https://emodnet.ec.europa.eu/geoviewer/ > Catalogue > EMODnet Biology
- EMODnet Seabed Habitats has created 'A combined, harmonized data product showing the best evidence for the distribution of three essential ocean variables in Europe' (“Live hard coral cover”, “Seagrass cover” and “Macroalgal canopy coral cover”) in Europe, with metadata https://emodnet.ec.europa.eu/sites/emodnet.ec.europa.eu/files/public/d304_eov-report.pdf
- Blue-Cloud has been creating a demonstrator around EOVs - see https://blue-cloud.org/vlabs/zoo-and-phytoplankton-eov-products

The (technical) specifications and the requirements for EOVs have not always been clearly defined though (work in progress).
