RPiPlay not working at all on Pi4 with Bullseye Lite

I have installed all necessary packages, etc. I am using an official touchscreen with occasional HDMI output to a TV. RPiPlay compiled successfully, but when I run it, the screen doesn't go black like usual and I get no airplay whatsoever.

I have multiple other Pis that this is working on, but this is my first time attempting on a lite OS install. Only went with lite due to constraints of RaspAP. Have tried multiple renderers. I'm getting no indication in my terminal that the program isn't working. It launches fine, and allows me to airplay from a Macbook pro via airplay menu, but I simply have no video on the far end. I have tried both with desktop environment, and with console autologin, and still no luck.

Any ideas why this may not be working? Am I missing something? I'd like to get this project working - the final idea is a wifi extender that I can also airplay to, perfect for travel. Got the wifi part working, now if only RPiPlay wanted to behave...

Closed - openmax issue with Bullseye as noted in earlier threads. The problem now is I can't run rpi-update without breaking RaspAP. Either one or the other works. Frustrating, might revert to Buster.
