Custom auto completion in search

I'd love if it was possible to do a custom search alongside the built in Places search. This would be used to send a request to a custom API to make a search with the same term as is used for Google Places searched.

This could then be displayed together with the regular result, either as separate groups or mixed in together.

Apple Maps native SDK has support for this and it's quite handy.

Note, I'm not talking about a fixed list of suggestions, I'm really meaning to have an API based searched.
