[design] Feedback on visual elements within Flux Notes Full (Feb)
Opened this issue · 0 comments
The following feedback is based on the 13 Feb 2018 instance of Flux Notes Full. They are focused primarily on stylistic or visual changes. The attached document "fluxnotes_feedback_feb" has visual examples of each of the points and should be referenced while reading the feedback below:
-
The size of the text within the columns should be the same as the narrative text (in mockup v12.6, the column text and the narrative text are the same size but I wrote the column text as “COLUMN TEXT 12 FONT”, which is less than the “COLUMN HEADER 14 FONT”. My mistake).
-
The structured data element underline color is currently one that’s more purple, and not being used in any other part of the application (HEX#3644FD). This makes it appear more like a link, and there is less cohesion in the color palette. The underline color should reflect already existing colors (HEX#0182D7 is one being used in the Flux Notes logo and should be used as the underline color).
-
Reduce the weight of the column headers. Currently they are visually very heavy.
-
I would suggest pushing back the background-color gray to maybe 50% of what it is now. It is visually heavy at the moment. In the future, we may want to explore removing them altogether for a minimap. Depending on the width, the rows may still be readable without them, but I think further user validation is needed to determine that.
-
The size and width of the elements in the right context tray (new note, note/@ toggle) should stay persistent regardless of whether the user is in authoring note mode or not
-
The patient record summary section “Pathology results” should be abbreviated (Pathology?).
-
The visual treatment of the in-progress note (before entering the note) should reflect its temporary nature as it has not been signed yet. One way to do this is to lighten the border of the in-progress note element.
-
The spacing between the minimap sections should stay consistent regardless of what condition is selected. Keep the spacing on the minimal side.
-
Consolidating the Dr name underneath the Flux Notes logo text would decrease visual clutter.
-
Lighten the scrubber on the patient record minimap. The current level of darkness reduces text readability.
-
Reduce spacing above and below the patient record minimap. When there is too much space it creates visual misalignment as other elements on the page are vertically taking up more space (e.g. the patient record section content)
-
Keep column header text treatment consistent. I would suggest keeping it a regular semibolded font instead of bold italics. Mixing too many font styles is generally not recommended.

Hovering over the icon for table or narrative creates a gray background around the SVG icon. A cleaner interaction could be created by adding a light gray that does not expand beyond the bounds of the icon. I've attached an SVG of the table icon without any fill here.
