Describe the bug
After upgrading the mainboard firmware from 03.09 to 03.16, I no longer have access to the setup interface(admin password no longer works. This password is kept in my password manager, so it's not likely forgotten/mistyped).
Steps To Reproduce
N/A, but one may want to try reproducing it with a 10-character password that comprises the following character classes:
- Uppercase character(3 in total)
- Lowercase character(4 in total)
- Digit(2 in total)
- Special symbol(1 in total, in my case it is an exclamation mark(!))
Expected behavior
The setup interface should still be accessible after entering the previously set supervisor password.
Screenshots
Unnecessary, as it is just an "incorrect password" generic error.
Operating System (please complete the following information):
- OS/Distribution: Ubuntu
- Version: 24.04
- Linux Kernel Version: 6.14.0-28-generic
Additional context
I would suggest that anyone doing this upgrade unset the admin password beforehand, just in case.
UPDATE: I have a recollection that this firmware upgrade was previously triggered by the Discover software manager on KDE, but it seems to have failed and bailed out during reboot. I don't really think much about it during the time, but that's a thing that I believe happened a few days ago.
The upgrade that causes this problem is triggered by the fwupdmgr update command, with my full intention of upgrading the firmware.
Another anomaly I noticed is that the function lock function keys no longer works...
Fn+F1~F12 no longer worksWorking again after I runsudo ./framework_tool --console follow...wierd.- fn lock not functioning (function keys still function as media... keys after pressing fn+esc)
- However Fn+Space do work
Is your system still failure with the password?
I try to have a system with 3.09 with supervisor password, then update the BIOS to 3.16.
After update to 3.16, I still can enter the BIOS with my supervisor password.

Due to work needs, I have done the password reset procedure and can no longer reproduce the problem.
Here's the original password I stored in my password manager: LH4Ng3eh!d (it is entirely randomly generated in the password manager, so there are no security concerns as long as I rotate it). Feel free to close this issue if it's not reproducible.
Thanks for provide information. I will try to use the same password to reproduce again.
I tried to use the same password, the password is still kept in the system after update the BIOS.
Thanks for the update, closing...
