People living with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) find it incredibly difficult to navigate. First of all, IBS sufferers need to grapple with the fact that IBS is a syndrome, a set of co-occuring medical signs and symptoms without a definite cause. Then IBS sufferers need to navigate a vast world of diagnostic testing and possible causes. A person with IBS may see several doctors who follow the patients journey through a clutter of notes in an electronic health record.

Therefore it seems a good idea to have a "map" that a patient can use to become a savvy advocate for themselves when working with health care providers. This repository aims to build such a map using rigorously reviewed citations.
