ADAM: Problems booting ROM files from far away TNFS servers

mozzwald opened this issue · 1 comments

This issue was brought forth privately and I'm adding it here. The problem seems to be that some ADAM ROM files will not boot from far away TNFS servers, but boot fine from local TNFS. Copying the ROM from far away TNFS to local SD appears to work fine.

I can't tell it for sure but, in my experience :

  • 99% of online DDP loads & run work fine
  • 99% of online DSK loads & run work fine
  • ??% of online (<= 32K) roms work fine but there as some which can't be booted from online

From roms that can't be booted online I noticed that in 99% although they can't be loaded directly (because of timeout or "dead loop"), they can be copied from online without issue and then, run successfully from the SD card.

Once copied locally on my own TNFSD server, all the roms/ddp/dsk run fine.

Things tried so far:

  • reduce TNFS timeouts to 3
  • reduce TNFS timeout wait delay
