ONVIF Camera access over WAN

I have a camera at another location. It supports ONVIF. When I use the CamHi app I can view manage that camera from anywhere and do not need to open any ports on my firewall.
Does this library support remote camera viewing using network traversal or would it require opening ports through the firewall to work?
